These photos show water catchment infrastructure works under the DARIS-WACAN Project implemented by IOM, with Shawai Initiative Consultancy (SIC) responsible for the engineering design, construction supervision, and ongoing monitoring.
A total of five (5) water catchments were developed across multiple regions: two (2) in Gedo, two (2) in Galmudug, and one (1) in Hirshabelle State. The works included excavation, embankment formation, compaction, and associated structures to enhance water availability for drought-affected communities.
SIC’s role ensured that the water catchments were designed and implemented in line with technical standards, environmental and social safeguards, and project quality requirements, contributing to improved water access, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods.
